Bourgeoise JOMC Custom "The Harlequin" - 2004
For your consideration, we present one of the most unique acoustic guitar offerings ever to grace the KHG showroom.
According to Dana Bourgeois, this JOMC Custom was built as a novelty guitar for the 2004 NAMM convention and was later purchased by legendary guitar oddity collector and composer Henry Kaiser. This guitar showcases ALL the tonewoods, resulting in a menagerie of wonderful textures and finishing details. Starting from the headstock face, the overlay is split down the middle, with ebony on the bass side and Brazilian Rosewood on the treble side. The 2-piece top consists of both tight-grained cedar and heavily-bear-clawed Spruce. Each side is also different, with a mahogany bass side and a flamed maple treble side. The reverse of the body is the most dramatic mixup of the entire instrument, consisting of Flamed Koa and beautifully figured Brazilian Rosewood. The entire instrument is bound in flamed maple and is accented with alternating herringbone and abalone purfling and a split abalone/herringbone rosette. Bourgeois set this instrument up for success with a bone nut, compensated bone saddle, and a set of gold Waverly open-gear tuning machines. The previous owner opted for a premium electronics package and added an aftermarket Trance Audio Amulet M Dual Mono system.
