Fender Telecaster Custom with Maple Fretboard 1972 - 3-Tone Sunburst
The year 1972 saw a major development in the history of the Fender Telecaster. With its original run built from 1972 to 1980, the Telecaster Custom embraced the emergence of a popular aftermarket modification into the lineup with a Seth Lover Wide Range Humbucker added to the neck position and a 2-Volume/2-Tone control layout similar to that of the Gibson Les Paul. This Tele variant has garnered a minor cult-following and has been often imitated and reissued by Fender. Famous players of the Telecaster Custom include Keith Richards, Peter Buck, The Edge, Albert Lee, Mike Bloomfield, Steve Howe, Andy Summers, & Wim Butler. Experience a vast range of Tele tones from this vintage classic; from the spanky & bright twang of the bridge single coil to the creamy warmth of the Fender-logo'd neck humbucker and everything in between.
This Tele Custom is in Good-to-Very-Good condition, showing signs of moderate-to-heavy use, light modification, and careful storage. After a careful biopsy of the guitar, we have found that the neck dates to 1972 and that the wiring harness and bridgeplate are original to this instrument. This guitar was refretted by Keith Holland at Keith Holland Guitars. There is evidence of a different set of tuning machines being installed on this headstock, however the current tuning machines are consistent with what would be original factory hardware. The original bridge saddles were upgraded to brass compensated saddles by our expert techs and the original saddles are included in this package. The body of the guitar shows numerous instances of wear, scratches, dents, and buckle worming. The neck shows light-to-moderate wear on the reverse. This guitar was recently set-up by our expert techs and was fitted with a set of Curt Mangan 10's.
