Mike Learn Warbird Custom "Lady in the Dark" 2015
For your consideration, we present a custom-airbrushed masterpiece honoring a slice of American history.
This Mike Learn Warbird was constructed and painted in 2015. Mike Learn previously painted guitars for Jackson, but is now a custom painter of motorcycles and automobiles as well as an accomplished luthier in his own right. As a tribute to Learn's respect for his WWII veteran relatives and his own enthusiam for WWII history, the Warbird celebrates artworks present on fighter planes and bombers of the era. This particular piece, "The Lady in the Dark," holds specific historic significance as this artwork is known to be painted on Northrop P-61 Black Widows of the 548th Night Fighter Squadron (NFS). This squadron of P-61s is rumored to hold the final allied aerial victory in the Pacific Campaign in August 1945.
This Warbird has a neck-thru construction, with a multi-laminate Maple Neck with a side-dot-only ebony fingerboard and Alder body wings. A satin silver Original Floyd Rose is present for ultimate dive-bombing and and R5 Nut and Wilkinson tuning machines hold tuning stable and true. The 16"-to-20" compound radius fingerboard is suited for maximum shreddability and comfort and is loaded with 24 recently leveled Jump Frets. Electronically, this guitar is spartan-yet potent, with a single open-coil Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge position, a single volume knob, and a input-jack-activated lighted momentary "Kill" switch.
This is a rare opportunity to own a Mike Learn gem, one of very few Warbirds out in the wild and a true celebration of American history.
