Ovation 1111-4 Balladeer 1972 - Natural
This early Ovation comes to us from the collection of Roy Chaney, founding member of the psychedelic rock and proto-punk pioneers, Count Five. Specifically, this 1111-4 Balladeer model dates from 1972, the second year production of this model. Roy doesn't remember how long he's had this Ovation kicking around, but it is very likely he's had it in his collection since at least the early 1980's and maybe slightly earlier.
This Guitar is in Good-to-Fair condition, showing signs of heavy playwear and a admittedly rough life. The top shows significant wear and numerous instances of bumps, scrapes, and playwear. There is a noticeable crack in the top which was repaired a long time ago and has been deemed stable by our team. The reverse of the body has an area of adhesive residue which is not sticky but has left a mark in the composite back. The headstock shows a repaired crack, numerous bumps and scratches, a replaced non-original truss rod cover, and upgraded Schaller tuning machines. The reverse of the neck has several noticeable indents, The frets have some life left, but it would be recommended that this guitar either have a fret level or a refret in the future. This guitar was recently inspected and set up by our world-class techs. Should you require more photos of this instrument, please contact us via Reverb or directly at the shop.
