PRS Standard 24 1989 - Vintage Cherry
The earliest runs of this model saw the Custom 24 with various degrees of flamed maple top and the Standard 24 with a solid mahogany body. This guitar dates from 1989 and is a remarkably-clean and lightly-modded example of this now-vintage guitar. With its Vintage Cherry stained body & neck, spartan Abalone & Pearl Moon Inlays, and simplified control layout, the Standard 24 is the working-player's PRS with a few secrets under the hood. The mini-toggle on the front is known historically as the "sweet switch", which simulates playing through a 104-foot cable, capacitively loading the signal and adding some attenuation and a small delay. At some point in its life, the guitar's stock pickups have been changed to a fill DiMarzio compliment, with a warm & Dynamic Tone Zone in the bridge position and a clear & PAF-Powered Humbucker From Hell in the neck position. The original rotary pickup selector switch was changed to a simpler 3-way toggle. This guitar retains its original frets -with plenty of meat left- as well as its original PRS/Schaller locking tuning machines. Get you hands on this highly-spec'd Player's Grade new classic today!
This guitar is in Excellent-to-Very-Good "Player's Grade" condition considering its age, showing signs of light-to-moderate playwear and careful storage. There are minor scratches on the front and back of the body, mostly located in the picking area. There is visible pickwear on the tops of the pickup bobbins. The pickups have been changed to DiMarzios and the rotary switch has been replaced with a 3-way selector toggle. All hardware shows minor-to-moderate tarnishing consistent with an instrument of this age. This package includes the original hard case. This guitar recently received a pro setup and was restrung with a set of Curt Mangan 10's.
