Hello, our name is Blue Skool Records, and we are pedal junkies. The first step is admitting, but as tone-chasing solder monkeys, we also have OCD. Everything must be purple.
The OD Purp is a shot out to OCD, both the famous overdrive pedal by Fulltone, as well as the meticulous attempt to offer the ultimate overdrive. Inside this Barney-flavored box is the heart of an OCD with the balls and diversity fellow junkies requested.
Options include the top switch which allows players to choose between a tone sweep over a large spectrum, or a louder, more focused mid-boost so players can dial in the frequencies they need to cut-through the mix in live settings.
Below the tone selector switch is a three-way switch that allows our true OCD to shine through. In the down position, this 3 way switch activates an LED clipping diode mixed with the traditional MOSFET boutique clipping of the original, while the middles position takes the diodes out of the circuit altogether for pure MOSFET tone. Finally, the top position of the 3 way switch activates a 1N34A Germanium clipping diode for warm vintage tones on low gain settings, and almost fuzzy distortion with the gain maxed-out.
Volume – controls output volume
Tone – In standard mode, the tone knob controls a wide spectrum of tones from the bass heavy goodness found by turning the knob to the left, to the sparkly bright tones found by turning the knob right. We like it somewhere in between. With the switch engaged, the tone control will shape the sweet spot of that mode, allowing you to dial in tones that are focused in the frequency spectrum that your audience can hear.
Gain – Start all the way to the right, and the pedal is almost a clean boost. Slowly turn the knob to the right to increase the grit and sustain. Be aware, as you increase the gain, you will also increase the volume and noise floor. All the way to the right, and there is enough gain on tap to put you into solid distortion territory.
Tone Selector – select between a sweet-sounding round tone for rocking at home, and a focused tone monster with extra volume for live gigs.
3 Way Switch - Up – 1N34A Germanium Diode Middle –No diodes Down – LED
List Price: $250
