"I don't use pedals...I just like a my guitar and good tube amp."  While we tend to agree that sweet guitars and trusty tube amp are a yummy combo, getting that cranked amp sound at non ear-bleed volumes is tricky.  So when people claim they don't use pedals, we throw them a Domino Effect and make them eat their words.  The Domino Effect is a subtle overdrive to light distortion circuit that uses the least amount of components possible, so there is very little standing in between you and your pure tone.  With the gain down low, this pedal acts a boost, adding just a hint of bite and sparkle.  Crank up the gain, and unlock the "Pride and Joy" and "Highway to Hell" tones within, all at reasonable volume levels!  Finally, we have two switches to access even more tones.  One switch chooses between two germanium clipping diodes or a combo of germanium and silicon for varied textures, while the other clip warms up the high end for bright guitars and amps (or maybe you like a really creamy overdrive tone).

Volume - Controls overall volume
Gain- Adds grit and sustain to the original signal
Ge/Si switch - chooses between Silicon or Germanium Clipping diodes
Hi/Lo - chooses between adding sparkle and grit to top end (Hi) or taking it away (Lo)
