Washburn Model 1897 #111 Parlor Guitar 1903-1904 - Natural
For your consideration, we present a beautifully-preserved nylon-string guitar from nearly 100 years ago.
The Washburn Model 1897 debuted in the year of that same number and was produced for several subsequent decades. According to an expert who reached out to us privately, our instrument appears to be from around 1903-1904. This instrument is designated as a "No. 111" in what was known as the Standard Size and retailed for a NON-NEGOTIABLE $15. Instruments of this vintage are known to have backs & sides constructed of one of the finest tonewoods available, Brazilian Rosewood.
This instrument is in Good "Player Grade" condition, showing signs of moderate restoration and careful subsequent storage. The previous owner was a luthier and carefully removed the back of this guitar in order to repair the cracks in the top as well as add fan bracing and a bridge plate, There are numerous scratches, dents, scuffs, and marks on this instrument as would be expected of an instrument of this age. The cracks in the top are stable and secured. Our expert techs have set this guitar up for success, however this instrument may need a neck reset if you desire the action to be lower than it its present state.
