La France Luthiers Hand Made Petite Bouche Gypsy Jazz Guitar
La France Luthier's meticulous attention to detail and reverence for early 20th century building techniques has garnered them quite a following in their native Bay Area. Completely hand made with exotic and ethically sourced woods, their guitars are unmistakably loud, resonant and brimming with tonal character. Featuring a 40 year old Solid Romanian Spruce top and lightly finished with an open pore nitro, this guitar achieves a powerful and cutting sound that will slice through any rhythm section. This guitar takes many of it's cues from the genius of Mario Maccafari's early designs but also derives inspiration from other sources as well. The "petite bouche" sound hole is obviously inspired by the post-Maccafari era of Selmer, and the ladder bracing harkens back to the early turn-of-the-century style of bracing construction. Though this guitar is quite vintage in appearance, the rosewood rosette pattern and distinct fingerboard cut-away are signature aesthetic characteristics unique to La France Luthiers. Ultimately this guitar is a thoughtful blend of old techniques and modern wisdom with the final result being an outrageously loud guitar equally suited for live performance and studio engagements.
