La France Luthiers PG-1 Parlor Guitar
Handbuilt by Bay Area luthier Ron LaFrance, this Parlour guitar is a master-crafted tribute to a historic and iconic instrument: the 1918 Martin Model 1-18. Though-nearly identical to the Martin in silhouette, LaFrance brings modern touches and select wood choices to his tribute build and has created a unique Parlor guitar unlike any other you will find on Reverb. LaFrance departs from expected body woods here, presenting us with a unique blend of tonewoods for maximum projection and volume with a satin-finished Peruvian Walnut back and sides and a Western Red Cedar top which has been X-braced with Sitka Spruce. A striking red Cocobolo rosette tops off this fantastic collection of woods and the body is bound with Flamed Maple on the front and back. The 3-piece Mahogany & Maple neck is capped with a Ebony fingerboard, loaded with 6150 frets and a double-action truss rod, and has matching caps of Peruvian Walnut on the face and reverse of the headstock. Mother-of-Pearl Dot inlays grace the face of the fingerboard as well as the edge. Tuning is kept in check with a Tusq Compensated Saddle on an Ebony Martin-Style Bridge, a Buffalo Horn Nut, and Golden-Age 1919 Replica Post-Under Tuners with Pearloid Buttons. This vintage-inspired masterpiece is brought into the modern age of Acoustic-Electric guitars with a passive K&K Pure Mini Pickup System with volume control located inside the soundhole.
