Peavey 6505 Piranha Micro Guitar Head 2010s - Black
from archived Sweetwater page:
Big Tone from a Small Amp Head
Don't let its small size fool you - the Peavey 6505 Piranha 20-watt amplifier packs the tonal tenacity that Peavey's 6505 series is known for. With a single 12AX7 tube added to the solid-state gain structure, this small amp head will make your guitar sound like a beast through larger speaker cabinets. A front-panel switch toggles Crunch and Lead modes. The effects loop gives you more options for integrating effects pedals and also allows you to use the 6505 Piranha as a "preamp driver" - simply connect the effects loop send to the input of a separate amplifier. And while it has the goods to be your main gigging amplifier, the Peavey Piranha is also the most size- and space-efficient backup amplifier you could ask for.
Compact hybrid amp design
The Peavey 6505 Piranha is small, only slightly larger than a thick paperback book and weighing in at only 2.5 lbs. That's made possible by its solid-state power amp stage, yet Peavey found room to add a 12AX7 tube to the gain structure to add real tube harmonics to your tone. The 6505 Piranha delivers 20 watts to a 4-ohm cab, 15 watts to an 8-ohm cab, and 10 watts to a 16-ohm cab.
Effects loop offers pedal flexibility and creative potential
When we first saw the Peavey 6505 Piranha at Sweetwater, we were pleased to see an effects loop onboard, which is often omitted from compact amps such as the Piranha. Of course the effects loop is the perfect place to place time-based effects like delay and reverb pedals, but it also offers creative potential. By connecting the effects loop send of the 6505 Piranha to the input of a different amplifier, you can use the Piranha for tone shaping and to hit the preamp of the second amp hard. If you record guitar amps in your studio regularly, the 6505 Piranha is a compact and inexpensive way to expand your sonic options.
Built to last
Peavey has earned a reputation for creating reliable gear that works well for decades, and it shows in the 6505 Piranha. As soon as you get it out of the box, you'll be reassured by its build quality, despite its small size and light weight.
Peavey 6505 Piranha 20-watt Amplifier Head Features:
This amplifier is in Excellent condition, showing signs of light use and careful storage. There are some light scratches on the outer casing of this amp. This amplifier has been tested and functions as intended. This package includes the original power cable.
