Crazy noisemaker- plain and simple. Glitchier than an old NES, the Bad Motivator faithfully reproduces the sound of an R2 Unit self-destructing in the Tatooine heat. This pedal uses a dial-tone phone tone decoder chip to create everything from choppy tremolo to 8-bit octave down. The Mod control starts off as a lo fi tremolo that becomes a ring modulator as the speed of the tremolo reaches infinity. Just a tiny tweak more on the Mod knob, and your original signal is bit-squashed and notes are haphazardly pitch shifted down an octave. Think Space Invaders from your parents Atari. This pedal is not quiet, musical, or transparent - but tons of fun!
Controls:
Volume - controls overall output of pedal
Mod - Fully counter-clockwise is a tremolo effect that speeds up as the knob is turned clockwise. At some point, the tremolo is so fast that the pedal becomes a ring modulator. Minute tweaks within this area will yield all kinds of insanity.
Filter - Tone control for filtering out unwanted disturbances in the force.
