Aye Mate, this Dirt box is specifically voiced for down-tuned guitars, 7 strings, 8 strings, and bassists that crave a truly gritty tone. That said, there are a ton of traditional guitar tones found in this beast, so standard tuning six-string-slingers are welcome to join in the pillage. The Red Beard allows players to dial in both Germanium and Silicon fuzztones, and then starve the circuit for textures from fully-saturated, sustain-for-days fuzz, fuzz to sputtering gated madness. Rolling the grit back on bass produces a rich and full vintage bass tone, and the wide EQ sweep facilitates tuning in the perfect timbre to cut the mix. We have had requests for a pedal that can handle 7 and 8 string frequencies, and the Red Beard can distort all the lowdown notes without flubbying out or loss of clarity. On a standard 6 string, adjust the controls just right to unlock an Eric Johnson tone or Jack White gated fuzz. Hours of enjoyment are found in this pedal, and it beats the hell outta walking the plank. Arrgh.
Controls:
Decibel – Volume Control
Timbre- Tone control. Set at noon, then turn right for more treble, or left for more bass.
Pillage – The Fuzz control. Turn right for more grit
Plunder – Leave as the way right for standard tones. As you turn the control left, the circuit will be starved and notes will fizz out and produce the classic “gated fuzz” tones.
